Pigeon population in Zaventem drops 10%

10/01/2025 - 17:03

A hopeful interim result after 7 months

Zaventem municipality started contraception for city pigeons in April 2024, resolutely opting for a humane and animal-friendly solution. An automatic dispenser was placed at the municipal park, where most pigeons forage. The first results were promising: after only seven months, the pigeon population had fallen by as much as 10%.

The full effect will only be visible after a complete reproductive cycle. Then the municipal council will decide on a second dispenser to increase the range. We are already confident of a positive end result!
