The capital of the Kempen has opted for an animal-friendly solution to the pigeon nuisance
Today the city of Turnhout together with the team of Vets For City Pigeons installed an automatic corn dispenser on the roof of the library. At the first count in spring 2021 it became clear that action was needed in the city centre. There were too many pigeons, causing inconvenience, damage and (health) risks. Thanks to the corn dispenser, the pigeon population can be contained in an animal-friendly way.
The pigeon population will be monitored by counting and re-evaluated at the end of the treatment. If necessary, the process will be repeated until the desired results are achieved.
